News Rudisha WL 1:41.33 in Rieti

rudishaRIETI (ITA) - The world record holder at 800 m David Rudisha showed a great performance at today´s Rieti meeting (IAAF World Challenge) in Italy, returning to the track where he achieved his current world record. Winning in very fast race in 1:41.33 he achieved a world leading mark, the 5th fastest time ever and managed to beat Polish talent Adam Kszczot running his personal best 1:43,30. Third Mohammed Aman of Ethiopia in a national record 1:43,37 and World youth all-time best.

 

 

  World champion Tatyana Lysenko easily qualified to the finals in Rieti hammer qualification with 72.62 yesterday (9). Also Yipsi Moreno of Cuba did not have too much difficulties 71.86. Betty Heidler was not competing in this last IAAF HT Challenge meet for women as she is a clear leader in the standings. Higher quality mark in men competition was achieved by Hungarian silver holder from Daegu Krisztian Pars who achieved 81.12, his second best mark of the season. Second Dilshod Nazarov 77.86 and remaining qualifiers third from Daegu Primoz Kozmus 77.68 and home star Nicola Vizzoni 77.59 m. Pars won men´s HT final today with 78.77, second Nazarov 77.51. Among women, Lysenko won the final with 75.58 MR, second Moreno 72.94. Men still have one more competition in IAAF HT Challenge in Zagreb on Tuesday.

In the impressive 1500 m, the world champion Asbel Kiprop of Kenya managed to achieve the world leading time 3:30.46.

Men´s 100 m saw Walter Dix, USA in 10.02, Clarke, JAM in SB 10.06 and Gatlin, USA 10.08. In the 200 m, the one lap specialist LaShawn Merritt won in solid 20.13 beating Ndure of Norway with 20.41. Home athlete Emanuele Abate clocked 13.54 PB to win in short hurdles over Brown and Porter of USA.

Bernard Lagat wins the 3000 m in 7:32.13, second Chepkok 7:32.38
Cuban Lazaro Borges was the pole vault headline winning easily with 5.81 in third attempt.

Top field in the women 1500 m was headed by Mariem Selsouli of Morocco crossing the finish line in 4:01.04. Home star Antonietta Di Martino was the top name in high jump with a victory jump over 196 cm. Hurdles star Sally Pearson ran flat 100 m ending second 11.24 behind Jamaican Schillonie Calvert in 11.09. The 400 m hurdles were having two world medalists (Walker, Antyukh) and Diamond winner Kaliese Spencer of Jamaica, who won easily in 53.60 leaving Antyukh on second place in 55.05.

Shericka Williams of Jamaica wins pretty fast women´s 400 m in 50.81, Russians Firova second 50.97, Yefremova 51.69 and Briton Ohuruogu 51.80. Russian Olga Zaytseva managed 6.84 to win women´s long jump before Frechb Lesueur with 6.70.
