pistoriusOSTRAVA (CZE) - South African para star Oscar Pistorius confirmed his first meet of the summer season in Europe. He will return to compete at the 400 m during the 51st Ostrava Golden Spike (IAAF World Challenge) on May 25. Last year he was 6th in 46.19 (his 10th best time of the career) at the Czech venue. Just before Ostrava he will run at the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester.

istaf05BERLIN (GER) - Tickets sales for the next IAAF World Challenge 2012 series have already started on December 1 as German organizers of meeting ISTAF in Berlin launched the sale. The organisers are planning to show the spectators at Olympic Stadium the stars of the Olympic Games in London.

tribunaARONA (ESP) - IAAF World Challenge, the second tier circuit of one day meetings is having the calendar for its third season in 2012. The meetings remained the same as in 2011, newcomer in the calendar is the Ponce Grand Prix of Puerto-Rico planned for May 12. Ponce was included into the series initially also for 2011, but then did not confirm due to lack of finances. Another change is that the Znamenskiy Memorial in Zhukovskiy (near Moscow).

bolt_ostravaZAGREB (CRO) - World record holder Usain Bolt remains undefeated with a solid win at the IAAF world challenge meeting in Zagreb, the 61st edition of Hanzekovic Memorial. Bolt clocked 9.85 (+0.1) to beat World bronze medalist Kim Collins (10.01) and Richard Thompson (10.03). Packed stadium witnessed in total 5 meet records Dayron Robles once again proved his position among the top hurdles with another win in the 110H with 13.00 (-0.2). Jason Richardson keeps improving with 13.04 over David Oliver (13.20).

bolt21-610_lZAGREB (CRO) - Tuesday´s 61st Boris Hanzekovic Memorial in Zagreb is the last IAAF World Challenge meet of the year. The main story is Usain Bolt in his first 100 m since Daegu. He will face among, other others, Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis, the surprise bronze medallist in Daegu, who improved his season's best to 10.01 in Berlin on Sunday; Trinidad & Tobago's national record holder Richard Thompson; and former World and Olympic champion Justin Gatlin of the U.S. Bolt's immediate target is the 9.78 world lead set by his compatriot Asafa Powell in late June.

blakeDaeguBERLIN (GER) - The jubilee 90th ISTAF at Olympic Stadium in Berlin saw new meet record and 9.82 (+0.1) by world champion Yohan Blake in his last race at this distance 2011. Superb 51 182 spectators saw plenty of action and in total four meet records. "I was a little lazy at the start here," said Blake, whose run nonetheless solidified his hold on the No. 7 spot all-time. "I could have run 9.7 easy." Writes IAAF. Behind him, Kim Collins, the Daegu bronze medallist, clocked a 10.01 season's best, with Trinidad & Tobago's Richard Thompson third in 10.08. Spectators waited for home throwing wins.

David Rudisha confirmed he is the current top middle distance runner in the world. After superb 48.8 in the 400 m and 1:14.28 at 600 m he was seriously attacking his own world record achieved in the same stadium a year ago. At 41th Rieti Meeting (IAAF World Challenge) in hot conditions he clocked 1:41.33 what is world lead and fifth fastest ever (he and Wilson Kipketer two faster times each). Poland's World Championships finalist and European Indoor champion Adam Kszczot set the fastest time of his career clocking 1:43.30.

rudishaRIETI (ITA) - The world record holder at 800 m David Rudisha showed a great performance at today´s Rieti meeting (IAAF World Challenge) in Italy, returning to the track where he achieved his current world record. Winning in very fast race in 1:41.33 he achieved a world leading mark, the 5th fastest time ever and managed to beat Polish talent Adam Kszczot running his personal best 1:43,30. Third Mohammed Aman of Ethiopia in a national record 1:43,37 and World youth all-time best.
